Don’t Rejoice Over Obama’s Failure.
I have spoken with many people over the last few weeks who, like me, believe that President Obama’s presidency has been an unmitigated failure and invariably they say they are happy to see him fail because that means that he will never be re-elected. Well, I have to disagree.
Firstly, don’t count your conservative chickens just yet. As far as I can tell, there isn’t one prominent conservative in the Republican, Libertarian or Independent parties that has the gravitas or wherewithal to beat the ridiculously popular Barack Obama in a heads up election, even with the President falling over his own feet on the oil spill disaster and his approval ratings dropping below fifty percent.
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I believe Sarah Palin is unelectable because the left wing media has effectively made her so. Mitt Romney so far has been far too silent for my tastes; if you remember, John Edwards, Obama and Hilary Clinton came out in full campaign mode two years before the election cycle during George W. Bush’s final term. John McCain has already proven he’s unelectable and neither Ron nor Rand Paul could match the Obama machine in campaign fund raising. Also remember, Bill Clinton was ripe for the picking in his second term campaign having lost Congress to the Republicans in the mid-term elections, but because the conservatives could only field an anemic Bob Dole as their candidate (despite the fact that he would have made a great President), the country was subjected to the humiliation of a president who was eventually impeached for lying to Congress. So, unless a Reaganesque figure emerges between now and 2012, we conservatives have very little to look forward to.
Secondly, rejoicing over the failure of Barack Obama is akin to burning down a house because the paint job has faded. Our economy is horrid; the jobs market is practically non-existent; the government has taken unprecedented control over private industry, dragging us against our will toward European style socialism; by the end of the year, taxes will be higher than they have been in decades; the national debt is completely out of control and may never recover; our deficit is in the trillions of dollars; the dollar itself is worth less now than at any time in our history and the Obama administration has done nothing – nothing – to stop the outrageous spending that will beggar our children and grandchildren. And now as what is rapidly becoming the worst potential environmental disaster in American history escalates in the Gulf of Mexico, Obama sits on his hands and waits while British Petroleum runs the show, showing an international community that already believes that America’s greatness is behind her that we can’t even take control of our own problems, much less be the standard for the rest of the world.
So, take no joy in Obama’s failures. Don’t gloat about having been right all along about his being completely unprepared and under qualified for the responsibility of the office of President. Instead, use his example as a cautionary tale and when it comes time in November to vote in the mid term elections and then again in 2012 for his reelection , don’t fall for Hollywood style campaign theatrics and slick presentations, don’t be swayed by flowery rhetoric and melodrama.
Don’t cast your vote for from your heart; use your head.
